GANGTOK, 28 Apr: A four-day workshop on Life Skills Training was concluded today at Deorali Girls School, Gangtok. The workshop was conducted by Skill-Ed (PARTH) which is the authorised training partner of PeoplePro International, Bangalore.
A press release informs that the topics covered in the workshop focused on positive self-growth with an emphasis on Stress Management, Peer Pressure, Identity Crisis, Loving Yourself and Early Marriage. The workshop was coordinated by Arun Awasthy along with a group of Counselling/Clinical Psychologists and trainers. The group comprised Pragyan Deep Dewan (M.Sc in Counselling Psychology), Angela Lama (M.Sc in Counselling Psychology), Tseyang Palzom (M.Sc in Clinical Psychology) and Jikme N. Bhutia (M.A. Political Science/Lifeskills Trainer).
Students from class IX, X and XII participated in the workshop and took part in several team building programs, discussions and self-awareness activities. The activities conducted were all geared towards the larger goal of harnessing positive growth and prevention of self-harm and suicidal behavior, the release mentions. The feedback from the students was positive and upbeat with a focus on learning aspirations.
The principal, SSL Chettri provided the necessary support and guidance for the entire program. PeoplePro International has thanked the Principal and staff members along with all the trainers. With regard to the future, PeoplePro plans to hold Psychoeducation/Lifeskills Workshops for school teachers and educators.
