GANGTOK, 02 May: All Sikkim Democratic Labour Front [ASDLF] celebrated International Labour day on 01 May at the Sikkim Democratic Front party office here. The function had he party vice president KB Chamling as the chief guest accompanied by Lok Sabha MP PD Rai, Neeru Sewa, Bhim Dhungel, DB Thapa, Norzang Lepcha, SK Pradhan, DN Sharma amongst others. Members of ASDLF were also present.
A press release informs that the program began with Mr. Norzang Lepcha giving detailed report of the work done by ASDLF in the year 2013. In his short address, he thanked the laborers for their contribution in the country’s development. Industries Minister Neeru Sewa reiterated the government’s continued commitment towards protection and facilities for all laborers and extension of security and legal support as well. She thanked all labour organisations for supporting the party and promised to work for the development of the people, the release mentions.
The chief guest, KB Chamling mentioned that SDF has always been working for the benefit of workers and their organizations in the state. He stated that under the SDF government, the standard of living of laborers has improved and more steps are being taken for the betterment of workers and their organizations. The program concluded with a short speech by Hari Chettri.
