GANGTOK, 21 Dec: The Tourism & Civil Aviation Department, in a press statement issued today, has thanked officials of the Sikkim Police Checkpost, North district administration, District Hospital Mangan and stakeholders for the assistance rendered by them in handling the 14 Dec road mishap at Lower Manngshila involving a tourist vehicle. Six people were killed in the accident.
The Department puts on record that the situation was handled efficiently by Borth District officials who ensured proper preliminary treatment for the injured at the Mangan hospital and proper dispatch of dead bodies.
“The officials from the Department of Tourism and Police Checkpost along with members of Travel Agents Association of Sikkim and JN Road taxi drivers association worked continuously to render all the possible help and support to the relatives of the deceased,” the release details.
The press communiqué ends with a request to stakeholders to “ensure safe and pleasant travel to our visitors which will make their stay in Sikkim a memorable experience”.
