GANGTOK, 19 Dec: The Principal, staff and students of Government Sr. Sec. School, Mamring, East Sikkim, have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Minister, Pawan Chamling for providing a sum of Rs.1 lakh as fund for an educational excursion, in a press release issued today.
The sum was equally divided amongst two streams out of which, Class XII I.T. went to Kolkata from 26-30 Sept while Class XII Humanities visited Delhi, Agra, Amritsar, Chandigarh and Shimla during from 14-26 Nov.
The Humanities students escorted by 3 teachers visited the Parliament on 18 Nov where the students got to experience and learn the processes involved in the functioning of the parliament, the release mentions.
Lok Sabha, MP, PD Rai, who had facilitated the visit, also had an interactive session with the students with regard to the functioning of the Parliament and encouraged them to work hard to realise their dreams.
The school has also expressed gratitude to Mr Rai for financial aid of Rs 20,00, Tourism Minister, Bhim Dhungel for sponsoring the accommodation in the New Sikkim House, Delhi, MLA, Gnathang-Machong constituency, LM Lepcha for an aid of Rs. 5000 for the tour and the Bureau of Parliamentary Studies and Training (BPST) for arranging a lecture on the Parliament and also for hosting a lunch within the Parliament on 18 Nov.
Hey why is the principal and others bending over to thank the CM.....if they want improvement in the educaitonal system then this is the least they the CM and ministers can do!! and they dont give it out of their own pocket or do they??? There are budget allocations for various deptts and sikkim is smothered with money from every possible scheme!! and just one lakh...isn't that too less??/
