RMDD seeks Rs. 445.51 cr to rebuild 7,971 houses destroyed by 18 Sept Quake


GANGTOK, 17 Dec:  The Rural Management & Development Department [RMDD] is seeking a total of Rs. 445.51 crore to rebuild the 7,971 houses fully damaged by the 18 Sept Earthquake across the State. This demand forms part of the earthquake assistance of Rs. 7,400 crore sought by the State Government from the Centre.

Sharing these details today, the RMDD Secretary, AK  Ganeriwala, informed that total of 12,548 houses in  rural Sikkim were fully or severely damaged in the earthquake.
“We have submitted a detailed project report seeking Rs. 445.51 crores under the Prime Minister’s relief package to rebuild 7,972 fully damaged houses at Rs. 5.69 lakh each,” the Secretary informed at a Press meet today.
