GANGTOK, 19 Dec: The annual meeting of Pakyong Greenfield (local) Taxi Drivers Association was held on 18 Dec at the shopping complex, Pakyong Bazaar, East Sikkim. The general secretary, Andrew Syangbo briefed the gathering on the issues taken up by the Joint Action Committee and expressed his hope that all the demands placed will be fulfilled soon.
Treasurer, Bikash Subba presented the detailed accounts of the association and appealed all to contribute for the monthly subscription which can be utilized by the drivers in times of need, informs a press release.
He also highlighted on various matters such as maintaining discipline and respect while on duty, following traffic rules, making sure that only identity card holders drive and not the NT license holders, organizing health camps, cleanliness drive and traffic awareness programmes further adding that those involved in illegal activities will not be extended any help from the organization and will be fined and suspended, the release mentions.
President, Kishore Pradhan gave a detailed report on the work undertaken by the association and informed that members who have maintained necessary criteria are assured of all kinds of help and support from the association.
Also, a Taxi Stand Committee was formed at the meeting with Prakash Lama as the president, and Suren Shanker as the vice president, the release adds.
