GANGTOK, 27 Aug: A ten-member delegation of Scheduled Caste Welfare Board, Sikkim led by Chairperson, Santa Ghatani called on the Governor of Sikkim, Shriniwas Patil at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday.
During interaction with the members of the board after the formal exchange of greetings, the Governor enquired about the status of different sub-communities under the Scheduled Caste in the State and urged the members of the board to be sincere and dedicated in their efforts towards the welfare of the community, as per a press release.
Expressing his happiness over the non-existence of discrimination on the basis of caste in the state, the Governor also assured all possible assistance for their welfare. He asked the members to take maximum leverage of the policies and programmes of the State Government aimed at their well being, the release mentions.
