Advocates and paralegals complete training on Mental Health and Suicide Prevention


GANGTOK, 27 Aug: The three-day Training for Trainers on Mental Health and Suicide Prevention for panel advocates and Para-Legal Volunteers organized by Sikkim State Legal Services Authority in coordination with state Health, Care & Family Welfare Department concluded today here at the High Court premises.
While addressing the concluding session Chief Justice Narendra Kumar Jain said that this training for panel advocates and Para-Legal Volunteers will definitely help in spreading awareness and providing assistance to those who need it. He also expressed hope that the trainees would take up research work on suicides in the state.
Justice SP Wangdi expressed his gratitude to the resource persons for extending help to sensitize the panel advocates and Para-Legal Volunteers in order to address the problem of suicides in Sikkim. The valedictory function was also addressed by Justice Sushil Kumar Sinha.
42 participants attended the three-day training programme which had Psychiatrists Dr. CS Sharma and Dr. CL Pradhan, Psychologist Nancy Palmu Chankapa and Sociologist Chungchung Bhutia as the resource persons.
