GANGTOK, 17 Nov: On the successful completion of 60 years, Khrista Raja Church, Pakyong, celebrated its Diamond Jubilee on 17 Nov at St. Xavier’s School, Pakyong, East Sikkim..
A press release informs that a special religious event, “Missa Balidan”, was organized under the guidance of the chief guest, religious head of Darjeeling-Sikkim, Stephen Lepcha, guest of honour, Father Felix Baretto of St. Thomas Church, Gangtok and Father Paul Simik of St. Xavier’s School.
The event also had the presence of Father Marcelona along with other 60 church priests, nuns and large number of devotees, actively participating in the event and singing hymns in the praise of Jesus Christ.
The chief guest, Father Stephen, congratulated the church on the successful completion of 60 years and highlighted the service of the founders of the church, Father Molmu and Father Anthony Namchyo.
Also at the event, Father Stephen Lepcha, Father Markus Yonzon, Father Felix Baretto, Father Edward Sangnes, Father Paul Simik and Sister Edlin Lepcha were felicitated for their selfless service towards the church, the release informs. They were presented with a shawl and citation by Father Kabo.
The programme also included cultural items by children of the Church and hymns by the nuns.
