First Convocation programmes at Livelihood Schools for Melli and Namthang

GANGTOK, 21 Nov: The first convocation, the certificate graduation programme, of Melli Livelihood School was held on 19 Nov and the convocation of the first batch of students at Namthang Livelihood School [Electrical trade] a day earlier.
The Namthang event had the BDO [Namthang], Robin Sewa, as chief guest, accompanied by Deputy Director, Estate Management, SICB, Bipula Dhakal and other invited guests.
Center Head, Biswadeep Pradhan presented the annual report on the day. So far, two students of the Livelihood School has been placed – one as an electrician at Hotel Retreat in Jorethang and one at Teesta Urja as a technician.
The Melli convocation started with felicitation of guests and ex-students by the staff and students.
Centre Head Arun Mukhia spoke of the pleasant and tough times through which the students graduated, a release informs. The students also shared their thoughts on how the institute helped in shaping their future.
Dy. Director, Counseling, Placement and Examination Cell, Ranjan Rai, shared success stories of various trainees of Livelihood Schools to motivate the graduating students.
OS, VAC, Melli Dara, Mani Kumar Rai, stressing on the importance of cultivation of barren land said that if any scheme related to Green House, Water Harvesting is made available in the future, the trainees would be given the first preference, the release mentions.
Horticulture Inspector, JB Rai assured to help the trainees in any of their future ventures and also assured to provide good variety of seeds for sustaining livelihood.
Among the 33 graduates, two students have already been placed in I.G.S. sector, the release adds.
