UNITED SIKKIM CO-OWNER SHARES FUTURE PLANS FOR CLUB

“USFC has potential and ambitions to become best football club of Asia”

GANGTOK, 14 July: The co-owner of United Sikkim Football Club, Executive Chairman of Dubai-based Fidelis World, Anand Krishnan, arrived in Gangtok yesterday to join the club which has begun training here. Speaking to media persons at Paljor Stadium today, he shared that his vision was to make the club the best team in all of Asia.
He along with the Fidelis World Chief Executive Officer, Navneet Sharma, attended the training session of the club today here at Paljor Stadium.
Mr Krishnan mentioned that the club was focusing not only on the I-League, but is working hard to become the best Asian team.

Speaking on the past performance of the club, he stated that the club performed very well in the last season of I-League despite having on 3 months to prepare and the management has seen its deficiencies and corrected them this time.
“This time, we have time and done better in choosing the right players and now have the best contingent in the country, so there will no excuses for the club this time as we have been providing them all they require,” Mr Krishnan said.
Mr Krishnan expressed his happiness and satisfaction on working with Bhaichung Bhutia’s club and the performance of the club so far.
“To work with football icon Bhaichung and people with similar mindset is encouraging and we want to run the company as an organization to create sportspersons for the country,” he said.
Mr Krishnan mentioned that the club was also working towards preparing an U-15 team.
He also shared that the company has plans to set up sports infrastructure and academies in India and Sri Lanka in football, cricket and golf and Sikkim will have the facilities for football.
The CEO, Mr Sharma, who accompanied the team to most of its matches in the last season of the I-League, expressed his happiness and satisfaction with the team performances so far.
He mentioned that the team had played very well in the last season although injuries and no pre-season practice affected the team’s performance to some extent.
However, he highlighted that this time, USFC the best team and due to Bhaichung there expectations from the team perform well in the coming season of I-League and other tournaments were riding high. 
Mr Sharma stated that Sikkim has the potential and talent for soccer and the state has a great advantage of having Bhaichung, “who has been leading them as a driver”.
He added that the club also wants to deliver on its social responsibilities by encouraging and promoting local talents to a higher level and to bring out a great team from the state.
He also mentioned that the club wants to make a model of total accountability and transparency and good governance in sports and will achieve its goals one by one.
