Namchi SBI officer accused of ‘misbehaviour’ by Kitam resident

GANGTOK, 08 Jan: Suresh Kumar Subba of Kitam in South Sikkim has accused a Field Officer of State Bank of India, Namchi Branch, of misbehavior when the former went to the bank to receive the last installment of his Home Loan on Saturday.
In a letter released to the press, Mr Subba informs that when he visited the bank to apply for the last installment a few days back, he found that the loan had been sanctioned, however, the insurance of his house had been done without consulting him and the amount debited from his loan. When he complained to the Field Officer regarding this, he was assured that the matter would be solved by the Regional Office.

When Mr Subba returned to the bank yesterday to enquire about the matter and also to receive the last installment, the Field Officer insisted on insuring the house even when Mr Subba mentioned that he had already insured the house with SBI Life. The Field Officer then allegedly misbehaved with the complainant stating that such house insurance was a rule of the bank.
In the letter, Mr Subba alleges that “such misbehavior in front of many people in the bank is an attack on his self-respect and dignity as well as misuse of powers by a government official”.
Further contending that if house insurance is a rule of the bank then he should have been informed before hand, Mr Subba has demanded that appropriate action against the official be taken by the Branch Office and Regional office along with an apology at the earliest failing which he will file a defamation case against the Field Officer.
