In a press statement issued today, the motor vehicle dealers have thanked the Chief Minister, Pawan Chamling, Transport Minister TT Bhutia, Political Advisor to the CM, Hissey Lachungpa, Chief Secretary Karma Gyatso and State Transport Authority of the Transport Department for having reduced additional tax for new registration of vehicles by 50%.
The reduction, the vehicle dealers, explain, will help the people “who had been waiting for the reduction in tax which had become a hindrance to the purchase and registration of vehicles in Sikkim”.
“Further, it will prevent the flight of revenue on vehicles to neighbouring states both in terms of VAT and Vehicle Registration Fees,” the motor vehicle dealers highlight while reiterating their deep appreciation for “this kind action”.
