SNT ensures fluid transport services through trying times


GANGTOK, 21 Sept [IPR]: Officers and staff of the Sikkim Nationalised Transport, especially of the Operation division, are actively involved in transportation of the rescue teams along with their equipment to affected places across the State. The SNT has also arranged additional buses to ferry stranded tourist from Gangtok to Siliguri.
SNT has pressed the following services into action since the Sunday earthquake:
1. 18.09.2011/ (Sunday Night): 4 (four) buses deputed to ferry Rescue team from Bagdogra Airport to 224 Transit Camp at Siliguri. These buses are still on duty.
2. 19/9/2011 (Monday): After noon few buses were sent with tourist to Siliguri
3. 20/9/2011 (Tuesday): Six buses were sent down to Siliguri; Six buses were detailed to transport Rescue Teams from Gangtok and Bardang.
4. 21/9/2011 (Wednesday): Four buses and two trucks are detailed for transportation of NDRF team with equipments from Gangtok; Five trucks detailed for transportation of Relief Equipment from Bardang to Mangan; Two buses are plying from Mangan to Singtam.

District Magistrate, North, is also utilizing the buses to carry casualties and victims from various places to Singtam. Even at Siliguri, buses and trucks are kept standby to transport the coming Rescue Team and their equipments.
