Ecclesiastical Affairs Deptt collects details on damage to religious institutions

11 PLACES OF WORSHIP REPORT EXTENSIVE DAMAGE

GANGTOK, 21 Sept: The Ecclesiastical Affairs Department has been collecting detail on damages suffered by religious institutions across the State. Thus far, the Department has received information on damages to 11 such establishments across the State. This follows from the appeal released by the department to Duchi/ committee members of all religious institutions in the State to contact its officials with information on damages suffered by their respective religious institutions.
The Department has also written to the District Collectors to forward the list of all the religious institution of their respective districts which have been severely damaged by the earthquake of 18 September duly indicating the extent of damages in each case.
Thus far, the Ecclesiastical Department has received information from the following religious institutions:
1. Chudup Targeythang, Gonpa, Barfok Lingdok, Lower Dzongu, North Sikkim.
2. Rapem Tharpaling Manilhakhang, East Sikkim.
3. Pabyuk Gonpa, East Sikkim
4. Chawang Ani Gonpa, North Sikkim.
5. Pao Hungri Gonpa, West Sikkim.
6. Dupdi Gonpa, West  Sikkim.
7. Labrang Gonpa, North Sikkim.
8. Tumlong Manilhakhang, North Sikkim.
9. Phodong Gonpa and Phodong Manilhakhang.
10. Partial Damage to Guru Rinpoche Statue at Samdruptse, South Sikkim,
11. Rongli Shivalaya Mandir, East Sikkim.
