Govt Driver’s Assc prez announces candidature and team for ASGEA elections


GANGTOK: President, All Sikkim Government Driver’s Association, CB Rai, Friday announced his team for the upcoming elections to the Central Executive Committee of the All Sikkim Government Employees Association [ASGEA].
It may be recalled that upon completion of its term, the CEC led by Narsing Rai was dissolved recently and fresh elections announced for 09 April.

This was announced during a meeting convened at the driver association’s office here, which was chaired by the president, Sikkim Agriculture and Horticulture Extension Workers Association, DB Gurung, and attended by representatives from 17 different government employee associations.
Mr. Rai is himself going to contest for the chairman’s post, while his fellow candidates are Passang Bhutia of IV Grade Association, NL Sharma of Sikkim Agriculture and Horticulture Extension Workers Association, DT Lepcha of Teachers’ Association, Chultim Bhutia of Sikkim Sub-ordinate Accounts Service Association, Nima Lepcha of Sikkim Sub-ordinate Forest Service Association, Hari Nepal of Sikkim Sub-ordinate Ministerial and Executive Service Association, Kishor Thapa of Sikkim Sub-ordinate Para-medical Employees Association and Mingma Sherpa of Sikkim Sub-ordinate Ministerial and Executive Services Association for the different posts in the CEC.
In his address today, Mr Gurung stressed that the ASGEA should work for the welfare of the employees and encouraged members from different associations to collaborate in this effort.
In his address, Mr Rai informed that his team has included representatives from all government employee associations to facilitate coordination for the overall welfare of all government employees.
He also expressed his gratitude towards members of different employee associations for showing their support to his team at the meeting and sought their indulgence to allow him and his team the opportunity to work on the all the pending demands of the employees.
The meeting was also addressed by the candidates, who assured to work for the welfare of the government employees going to the different platforms.
