GANGTOK, 16 Jan: Interactors from Paljor Namgyal Girls’ school and Enchey Sr Sec school along with Rotarians from Rotary Club of Gangtok-South attended the “First Actasia – 2014” ( First Asian Rotary Youth Conference and South Asian Rotary Festival) held at Khulna Bangladesh from 19-22 December 2014. The students and the Rotarians represented Rotary District- 3240.
A press release informs that the conference had delegations from India, Nepal, Sri-Lanka, Maldives, Malaysia and Bangladesh. It was a platform for exposure to different cultures, exchange of ideas and also to inspire young leaders to develop their leadership skills.
The students took part in a number of competitions comprising of debate, quiz, stall exhibition and competition for Mr. and Miss Actasia. The interactors managed to bag the following awards: members first Actasia, winners in quiz competition and the cultural competition, second best stall, Mr. Actasia and Miss Khulna.
There were more than 1200 participants from the above mentioned Asian countries in the programme. The Sikkim team comprised of 11 Interactors and 3 Rotarians. The programme also included a day-long trip to the Sunderbans.
The second Actasia is to be hosted by Sri-Lanka in the month of December 2015, the release informs.
