GANGTOK, 12 Jan [IPR]: Chief Minister Pawan Chamling and Smt Tika Maya Chamling have extended warm greetings and best wishes to the people of Sikkim on the auspicious and meritorious occasion of Makar Sankranti.
The Chief Minister has said that the festival of Makar Sankranti (commonly termed as Maghe Sankranti in this part of the country) is among the most auspicious occasions for Hindus and is celebrated in almost all parts of India. In his message, the Chief Minister has said that the festival holds celestial, spiritual, religious and cultural significance, adding that it commemorates the beginning of the harvest season and is celebrated in myriad cultural forms, with great devotion, fervor and gaiety.
In his message to the people of Sikkim, the Chief Minister has wished for happiness, prosperity, good health and a renewed sense of purpose and commitment.
