GANGTOK, 06 July: A central committee meeting of the All Sikkim Democratic Labour Front was convened today in Jorethang under the chairmanship of its vice president, BM Ramu Damu.
The area MLA, Madan Cintury, highlighting the problems being faced by the labourers and the general public, informed that the State government and the ASDLF were doing their best to resolve the problems while appealing to follow the policies framed by the government which assures their rights and status.
Mr. Ramudamu, responding to the grievances placed by the laborers and the general public, informed that the government has already sent a letter to the industrial units highlighting 16-points in the interest of workers.
Further, he said that ASDLF has also considered their demands under the government’s 100 days programme and that it was necessary for private units to abide by these directions.
The meeting was also attended by general secretary of the central committee, Hari Chettri, informs a press release issued by the convener, ASDLF, Krishna Kharel.
Earlier, ASDLF visited CCCT and Hindustan Construction Company at Thalthalay, South Sikkim and collected the grievances of labourers there.
At Thalthalay, HCC Worker’s Welfare Committee which is formally affiliated to ASDLF placed a 7-point charter of demands to the committee, the release informs.
