Ralap School rallies against substance abuse

SINGTAM, 26 June: An awareness programme on the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was held at Ralap Secondary School today. The programme included a rally by the school staff, students and parents, Panchayat members and others. Sharmila Chettri, Panchayat Secretary, Ralap Dung-Dung GPU was the chief guest while Bishal Sunar, Panchayat Ralap Ward was the special guest on the occasion.
The programme stated with an address by KN Dhakal, teacher, Ralap School while Headmaster Dorjee Sherpa, in his address, spoke on the importance of the day. He appealed to the students to stay away from such ills. He also informed the gathering about the theme for the year 2014, “A message of hope, drug use disorders are preventable and treatable” and spoke in brief about it.
MN Shivakoti, Science Teacher spoke about Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Bishal Sunar in his speech told the students about the consequences of using drugs and alcohol. He further advised the students to set a better example.

A rally was organized with students holding placards related to anti drugs theme. The rally started from Ralap School till Panchayat Bhawan and back to school. [from SHITAL PRADHAN]
