GANGTOK, 06 June: A meeting regarding the observance of Saga Dawa Duechen, 2014 was held in Hotel Tibet, Gangtok on 05 June, 2014. The meeting was chaired by the president, Sikkim Buddhist Duechen Organisation, Pasong Namgyal.
The Saga Dawa or the fourth lunar month, is the juncture of the event of the birth, attainment of enlightenment and maha-parinirvana of Sakyamuni Buddha which is observed as the most auspicious in the northern Buddhist tradition. The occasion, this year, falls on 13 June, 2014.
As per a press release, Sikkim Buddhist Duechen Organisation expresses its elation at the increase in the dharmic activities like holding Saga Dawa Duechen which indicate the process of enlightening human minds. This was the quest of Sakyamuni Buddha and enlightenment of human mind will help to create the genuine atmosphere of peace harmony and happiness for all the living beings.
Unlike its past performances and also to initiate activities conforming to the Buddhist philosophy, this year, the meeting decided to organise a day-long dharmic programme of Tshogs, Choedme (Tong-Choe) and prayers at Dotapu Chorten Gompa, Deorali which will help living beings to earn immense merit and also generate world peace.
The devotees and well-wishers are requested to join in the above cited pooja at Dotapu Chorten, Gonpa on 13 June, the release mentions.
