GANGTOK, 09 June: MGNREGA Social Audit Gram Sabha of Namthang Maneydara GPU was held at Namthang Maneydara Gram Prasashan Kendra, South Sikkim on 07 June. The Gram Sabha was conducted for the Completed/Ongoing MGNREGA works implemented during the financial year 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-2014, informs a press release.
District Resource Institution (DRI) South, Pacific Club facilitated the Gram Sabha under the guidance of Social Audit Unit (SAU), Sikkim, Voluntary Health Association of Sikkim (VHAS). Up-Adhyaksha South District Zilla Panchayat, Devi Maya Baraily was present as the chief guest at the Gram Sabha.
It was informed during the sabha that there were altogether 16 MGNREGA works out of which 03 works were completed and rest 13 works are ongoing, the release mentions.
The audit covered seven Fodder plantations, three CC Footpath, three water harvesting tank in three wards, all together three wards constructed 25 tanks, and two jeepable roads. Total sanctioned amount of the Audited Scheme was Rs 83,21,394.00. Audited amount of the total audited scheme was Rs. 41,57,738.00, it is informed.
Some of the issues raised during the Gram Sabha were provision of worksite facilities in all worksites, need to form Worksite Material Monitoring Committee before work starts, display of photographs of works in three stages [before, during and after] at GPK, copy of Consolidated Muster Roll must be made available during Social Audit and need for Citizen Information Board.
