SDF Cheli Sachetna programme held in South Sikkim

NAMCHI, 28 Jan: Sikkim Democratic Front [SDF] held a constituency level Cheli Sachetna programme of Poklok-Kamrang constituency under South Sikkim yesterday at Samatar Ward under Poklok-Denchung Gram Panchayat Unit.
Organised by SDF South District Cheli Morcha, the programme was attended by SDF South District In-charge, GM Gurung as the chief guest while Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, KN Rai was present as the special guest. Also present were Chairman Labor Welfare, Passang R Sherpa, Advisor Ecclesiastical Affairs Department, Lakpa Ghising along with other party members and supporters from Namchi and surrounding areas.
KN Rai in his address to the gathering highlighted the development that has taken place in many aspects under the SDF government and said that people should be able to assess them. He urged the youth and chelis to work sincerely for the development of the state and advised the various committees working at the ward level and constituency level to reach out to every house.
GM Gurung in his address said that today's meeting is meant for both chelis and youth. Everyone should fight for their right and SDF is the only party which will ensure this, he added. He further said that 2014 should be the year for women’s empowerment in every aspect and the year should be led by women.  Stating that SDF’s mission is 'pavitra kranti', Mr Gurung said that SKM cannot be termed as 'opposition' since all it does is point fingers.  He also stated that more pro-people announcements will be made soon.
The gathering was also addressed by Basant Rai who recently quit SKM and joined SDF. He shared his experiences with SKM in brief. Earlier, the programme started with the address of publicity secretary SDF Cheli Morcha South, Laxmi Gurung who highlighted the aims and objectives of the meeting.
