CM to chair meeting to nominate Rajya Sabha candidate on Thursday


GANGTOK, 18 Jan: The Chief Minister, Pawan Chamling today arrived at Rangpo at around 5 pm after almost a month long sojourn. He was received by a huge crowd comprising SDF party supporters and officials. Also present was Area MLA and Industries Minister, Neeru Sewa. Arriving at the Rangpo tourist lodge, there were khadas from various sections of the society including the business community for the CM; the CM had a brief halt at the Rangpo tourist lodge before taking off for Gangtok.
The most immediate activity for the Chief Minister and the SDF party is the upcoming legislator’s meeting scheduled for tomorrow. SDF party sources informed that the legislator’s meeting has been scheduled in time with the arrival of the party president and CM and it is during this meeting that the party candidate or nominee for the lone Rajya Sabha seat will be finalized and declared. SDF party sources stated that it is likely that the name of the Rajya Sabha candidate, once finalized, will be released to the press tomorrow itself. The last date of filing nominations for the lone RS seat is 20 January.
