UPPER SAMDONG, 05 Aug: The HRD Minister, NK Pradhan, launched the Commerce stream here at Samdong Senior Secondary School in East Sikkim on 03 August, Wednesday. The area had been seeking this stream of education for its students since the upgradation of the school to Senior Secondary level some years back. The demand came through with the recent visit to the area by the Chief Minister during his village-to-village tour. Faculty has been deputed the school and the Commerce stream has now begun.
The Minister was accompanied to the launch by Tumin-Lingee MLA, Chief Whip Ugen T Gyatso Bhutia, BDO Tintek, Tenzing D. Denzongpa, former MLA Norzang Lepcha, Zilla member Saraswati Regmi, panchayat members and SMC representatives.
While interacting with the teachers after the inauguration, the Minister stressed that quality education should be ensured and highlighted that as far as students were concerned, the CM was clear in his directions – there are to be no compromises in the grooming of students.
Congratulating the teachers on their choice of profession, he urged them to remain true to their responsibilities and keep enhancing their skills by keeping abreast with the latest tools and knowledge.
The Minister also inspected the school campus with the Principal, Dinesh Pradhan explaining the pending works in detail.
