A weekend of goals
GANGTOK, 17 July: Tathangchen FA outplayed Bhaley Dara [West Sikkim] while Sinilochu FC [Namchi] thrashed RYSFC [Middle Arithang] in their respective second division Sikkim-League matches on Sunday.
In the first match, Lhendup Bhutia opened the score for Tathangchen FA in the 13th minute but within a minute Bishan Rai of Bhaley Dara equalized the score. In flurry of early matches though, a quick brace by Tshering Dorjee in the 16th and 25th minutes, pulled Tathangchen in lead again.
In the second half, Santa Bir Rai of Bhaley Dara reduced the margin in the 65th minute and within one minute of this goal, Sitish took the match for Tathangchen FA by stretching the lead to 4-2.
In the second match, Siniolchu [Namchi] thrashed RYSFC [Middle Arithang] 6 goals to nil.
Kaline Lepcha opened the goal account of Siniolchu in the 20th minute which was followed up by his teammate Vishnu Pradhan’s brace in the 30th and 48th minutes and then a hattrick of Zangpo Tamang in the 43rd, 52nd and 67th minute.
On Saturday, in the first match GVSFA [Central Pendam] defeated Young Star FC [Bojoghari] by 3 goals to 2.
Khitook Lepcha scored an early goal for Young Star in the 3rd minute and the equalizer came in the 45th minute from the boots of Michael Lepcha, which was followed by two more goals for GVSFA by Tika Hang Subba in the 55th minute and Michael Lepcha in the 65th minute.
Despite a goal by Kamal Bagdas for Young Star in the 70th minute, Young Star could not bridge the gap and ended the match behind at 3-2.
In the next match, United FC [Jorethang] trashed Lower Arithang 8-1.
For United FC, Sanjeev scored four goals in the 11th, 14th, 28th and 53rd minute while Bimal Bagdas scored his hattrick in the 21st, 23rd and 69th minute and one goal by Bikash Thapa in the 38th minute. The lone goal for Lower Arithang was scored by Chopel Lepcha in the 25th minute.
On 23 July, the first match will be played between GVSFA [Central Pendam] and Tibetan YC [Gangtok], while in the next match Lower Arithang FC will take on UBFC [Ravangla].
