GANGTOK, 25 July: The annual meeting of Comprehensive Tourism Development Committee of Payong village in South Sikkim was convened yesterday under the chairmanship of a senior teacher from the area, DP Bhattarai, at Payong-Kau Gram Prashasan Kendra.
The meeting endorsed an amendment to the organisation’s constitution changing the name of committee to “Comprehensive Tourism Development Society”, informs a press release.
Kuber Nath Timsina was nominated as president organisation, with Bhakti Maya Parajuli as vice president, Gita Nath Koirala as general secretary, Tika Ram Adhikari as joint secretary, Churamuni Adhikari as treasurer, MN Adhikari as vice treasurer, Sachin Rai as publicity secretary, Usha Acharya as cultural secretary and Sukmaya Rai and Thakur Prasad Acharya as members.
The meeting also resolved to record all the homestays in the area against the names of the mothers of the house and also decided to create branch committees under all the existing Block Committees.
Also at the meeting, the general secretary placed the annual report while the treasurer submitted the financial report of the Society.
The meeting was also attended by Zilla Panchayat member, Ram Kumar Katuwal, other panchayats, members of the Society and the villagers, the release adds.
