GANGTOK, 14 June: Arjuna awardee and International archer from Sikkim, Tarundeep Rai, will be awarded the North Eastern Council Chairman's Sports Excellence Award on 16 June at the 60th NEC Plenary under the Chairmanship of DoNER Minister and Chairman NEC at the Parliament House annexe, New Delhi, informs a press release.
This award is being given to Tarundeep Rai in recognition of his hard work and excellence in the field of archery and for winning laurels for the state as well as the country at International meets such as Commonwealth and Asian Games. He will be given a cash award of Rs 5 lakhs for his Silver medal in 2010 Asian Games held in China and Rs 3 lakhs for his bronze medal in 2010 Commonwealth Games held at New Delhi.
The President and members of Sikkim Archery Association congratulate Mr Rai for his achievement and wish him all the best for his future tournaments, the release states.
