IT WOULD HELP IF CONCERNED OFFICIALS VISITED MORE OFTEN, RESIDENTS COMMENT
RINCHENPONG, 25 Feb: Coming in the heels of ‘beautification’ makeovers for the district headquarter towns, the smaller towns too are now burnishing up for slicker looks. Rinchenpong in West Sikkim is one such town, currently under a Rs. 1.69 crore cosmetic job, the task being undertaken by three cooperative societies of the area.
The residents, while speaking to NOW!, conveyed their gratitude towards Chief Minister Pawan Chamling and the area MLA for bringing this project to Rinchepong. They informed that the flow of the tourists, which was only seasonal at present, would become more consistent all year through once the town was better appointed and could offer better facilities.
It is perhaps in recognition of what this project could achieve if implemented properly, that they also complained that the concerned departmental officials have not been visiting the work sites as regularly as they should be to ensure quality work.
