PM assures delegation of personally reviewing Karmapa's "problems"


GANGTOK, 26 Feb: Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh made time despite his hectic Union Budget schedule to meet a delegation which called on him to discuss the problems hounding Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje.
A press release issued by the Joint Action Committee of Buddhist Organisations of Sikkim, former Finance Secretary, Kunzang Sherab, informs that the Prime Minister reassured the delegation that “he fully understood the sentiments of the Buddhists” and promised that as soon as the Budget session was over, he will personally look into the matter and have a review of the entire case.

The delegation, which comprised of Lok Sabha MP PD Rai, former MP and Union Minister from Ladakh, P Namgyal, former member of the National Commission of Scheduled Tribes, Lama Lobzang, and former MP and Ambassador, Karma Topden, also submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister when they met him at 11:20 a.m. today, requesting him to “look into all the problems that His Holiness the Karmapa is facing and allow him to visit Sikkim”.
The JAC release informs that the delegation left the meeting “reassured and confident”.
