NAMCHI, 25 Feb: The Voluntary Blood Donors Association of Sikkim (VBDAS) organized an outdoor blood donation camp at the Namthang Primary Health Center yesterday, supported by NSS cadets of Namthang Senior Secondary School and the Red Ribbon Club of South District.
46 volunteers donated blood which included 20 students of Namthang Livelihood School along with their Vice Principal, Ghanashyam Sharma, 19 NSS students of Namthang Senior Secondary School along with NSS project coordinator DM Tamang and 7regular volunteers from Namthang.
It was later informed by the General Secretary VBDAS, Deepak Rai that this was the first time that the association had organized an outdoor blood donation programme. He also thanked the technical team of Namchi district hospital and Namthang PHC staff for their support.
He further informed that the Blood transformation Van (VT Van) had to be brought in from Gangtok for this camp which if provided at the Namchi district hospital could facilitate an increase in voluntary blood donation in South district.
Earlier, a motivational programme was also conducted which was attended by BDO Namthang, Ravin Sewa, Zilla Panchayat, Devi Maya Baraily, Senior Blood Bank Officer South district Dr. Barun Subba, members of VBDAS, NSS students of Namthang Senior Secondary school and students of Livelihood School of Namthang.
