Voice of Sikkim’s VOSBuzz bags Northeast ICT Award

 GANGTOK, 15 Dec: Popular online news website, the Voice of Sikkim’s Android phone application – VOSBUZZ- bagged the eNews & Media award at the 4th North East ICT Award 2013 Summit held in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, on Friday.
Amir Bhandari, who developed this application, is quoted in a VOS press communiqué as stating that this application was the best fit for the latest technology from Google- Google Cloud Messaging GCM. This application, he adds, has immense potential in terms of communicating with a much wider audience unlike SMS where the number of characters is limited and sometimes did not reach users on time.
“We have incorporated GCM technology in VOSBUZZ application to adhere information to vast users in their mobile instantly, it supports more character than SMS, it can even support Media broadcasting. There’s still vast use of this application which are very vital for crucial reporting apart from News like Natural Disaster, Emergency, Health, Traffic, Education, Agriculture, Social cause, Notifications etc,” the VOS team adds.
The 4th North East ICT Award 2013 Summit, themed “Connectivity & Access for All in North East India”, was attended by finalists in all 12 categories from all the North Eastern states.
The event was inaugurated by the Arunachal Chief Minister.
Dr. Monica Banerjee, Program Director, NFI & Dr. Geeta Malhotra, Country Director, Read India handed over the ICT Award 2013 to Mr. Amir Bhandari. The Sikkim Information Technology Department also bagged the ICT Award 2013 for RMDD-based REDRH Information Management System software in a separate category.
