Sri Singa Jalapa Devi Mandir inaugurated in Kitam

KITAM, 18 Dec: A Sri Singa Jalapa Devi Mandir at Lower Kitam under Kitam-Manpur GPU was inaugurated by area MLA [Melli], Tulsi Devi Rai on 17 December. The MLA released a pigeon during the consecration ceremony held on the occasion of Dhanya Purnima.
During the programme, the MLA emphasized on religious harmony and lauded the initiative of the Mandir Management Committee in bringing all the people of the village together on a common platform for a positive cause.
She also lauded the contribution of local people for creation of such an infrastructure that caters to the religious aspirations of the people.
Ms. Rai said that the present government has put a lot of effort in promoting religious and communal harmony in the state, but some people with vested interests are disturbing peace in the state in the name of change.
She also thanked the people of the GPU for supporting the present government and SDF party. She also informed that Janta Mela will be organised in the month of January and will cover every household with various benefits.
The MLA assured to sanction a grant for the construction of a multi-storied Mandir in the village and urged the committee to register itself and the land of the committee as soon as possible. She informed that all formalities for upgradation of Kitam Secondary School are almost complete and senior secondary classes will begin from the next session.
President of the committee, Roshan Kaushik highlighted in brief about the history of the Devithan and informed that the construction of the Mandir was possible because of the grant of Rs. 1 lakh released by the Ecclesiastical Affairs Department. He expressed his gratitude towards the Chief Minister who had sanctioned the amount during his visit to Kitam and the Department for allocating funds for the same.
During the programme, Ratna Bahadur Chettri who had donated a plot of land surrounding the Devithan in memory of his Late wife Dhan Maya Chettri was felicitated for his generosity.
The programme was attended by devotees from Gom, Sorok, Shyampani, Sumbuk and Namchi.
