GANGTOK, 18 July: Following the recent sexual assault on a minor at Development Area, Gangtok, comes news of another alleged sexual assault on a minor, this time at Dalep under Temi police jurisdiction in South Sikkim.
According to reports, the accused, who is also a minor aged 17, working as a handy-boy lived with the relatives of the victim’s family. The incident took place at around 7:30 PM on 17 July when the mother of the minor asked her to go down to the ground floor of the house on some errand.
When the daughter did not return for some time, the mother went downstairs; this was when she caught the accused in the act. The accused has been arrested and both the accused and the victim were forwarded for medical examination.
Hail to Sikkim!!! after thirty seven years of merger, we have indeed joined the mainstream in a big way----- Sikkim now seems no different from the other indian states in terms of violence against children and women...is the Govt even taking note of it and thinking of measures to rectify it!!!
