Kazi Sherpa felicitated by Selep Tanki residents

GANGTOK, 03 May: Everester Kazi Sherpa was felicitated by the people of Selep Tanki area today in a programme organized by the Kazi Sherpa Reception Committee of Selep Tanki. Present for the programme were Principal Director, Finance Department Sonam Pradhan, Upper Burtuk Councillor Ram Bhujel and the people of Selep Tanki. It may be mentioned here that Mr Sherpa hails from the Selep Tanki area.
Addressing the gathering, Kazi Sherpa said that it had been his childhood dream to climb the Mount Everest and now with this feat he feels very proud. “I had to climb Mount Everest as I was not only representing the State but also the training institute for which I am working”, he expressed.
Urging the youth of the area to go for mountaineering, he stated that a lot of good things can be acquired from mountaineering, such as good health.  Good health is a must for mountaineering and it keeps you away from bad habits too he added.” If your want to stay healthy and fit and want to keep looking young then start climbing mountains”, said the Everester.
“It was not easy climbing the mountain, we faced many problems along the way with changing weather and even lost many fellow climbers, but for me, I had the blessings of the people and also my family, which has brought me back alive and well”, he added. He also thanked the people of Selep Tanki for felicitating him and promised to thank the people in person in the coming days.
Principal Director, Finance Department, Sonam Pradhan, Upper Burtuk Councillor, Ram Bhujel also addressed the gathering, wherein they urged the youth to take inspiration and learn to live their dreams, which can come true if one works towards realizing it. The children of the area also presented cultural programme on the day.
