HRDD takes stock of meeting ‘Infrastructure Development for Minor Institute’


15 SCHOOLS FROM ACROSS THE STATE RECEIVE CHEQUES UNDER IDMI

GANGTOK, 03 June:  “Good infrastructure leads to qualitative education and good facilities,” pointed out Secretary HRDD, CS Rao at an “Infrastructure Development for Minor Institute” [IDMI] meeting held on Saturday organized by the Human Resource Development Department at the Department’s conference hall.  The meeting focussed on the implementation of IDMI in Elementary, Secondary, and Senior Secondary Schools to build proper infrastructure offering better facilities for the students. The meeting was also attended by the HRDD Minister, NK Pradhan accompanied by Agriculture Minister, Dawcho Lepcha.
Deputy Director, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan detailed the aims and objectives of IDMI and briefed the meeting on the coverage, financial pattern, and mode of payment of the scheme.
The HRDD Secretary said that the scheme will facilitate quality education to students belonging to Scheduled Tribes [ST], Scheduled Caste [SC], Other Backward Class [OBC] and minority community by augmenting and strengthening school infrastructure of minority institutions, thereby expanding the facilities for formal education to children of ST, SC, OBC and minority community. The scheme will also inter alia encourage educational facilities for Girls and Children With Special Needs [CWSN].
He further added that only schools with 60 percent of its students belonging to minority communities will receive the financial aid. It is a 100 percent, Centre Sponsored Scheme [CSS], however, concerned Non-Governmental Organisation [NGO], School Institution shall bear 25 percent of the total project cost, it was informed.
The institute has to be strong in its own and be able to give good facilities to the students for which Government is ready to give required assistance to the interested non-governmental organizations and schools he further added.
Likewise, HRDD Minister, NK Pradhan in his address said that IDMI programme covers both aided and unaided educational institutes. Thanking the Agriculture Minister, Mr Pradhan informed that it was Mr Lepcha who had gone from pillar to post in Delhi to get this IDMI aid sanctioned.
He appealed to all the NGOs and schools from across the state receiving the financial aid to utilize the fund sincerely.
The HRDD and Agriculture Ministers distributed cheques to the following schools, Bongthing Primary School [North], Rs. 25,00,000; Padma Oedzer Choling Secondary School Rs. 25,00,000; Mount Pandim Primary School [North], Rs. 25,00,000, New Horizon Academy primary school [north], Rs. 12,00,000, Zenith Public School [North], Rs. 25,00,000; Mount Pandim Academy [North], Rs. 24,00,000, Mayal Lyang Academy [North] Rs. 25,00,000, Paljor Namgyal Girl’s Senior Secondary School East, Rs. 18,00,000; North Sikkim Academy, Rs. 25,00,000; Green Dale Senior Sec. School [East] Rs. 25,00,000, Tashi Namgyal Academy [East], Rs. 17,60,000; Tathangchen Sec. School [East], Rs. 25,00,000; Snow Drops Academy Sangadorjee, West Sikkim Rs. 24,00,000, Madrasa Gangtok [East], Rs. 25,00,000 and Little Angel Sec. School East, Rs. 25,00,000 respectively.
