Grateful father thanks CM for support which helped save his daughter’s life

GANGTOK, 20 Oct: A resident of Sang Khola, Singtam, Shyam Kumar Sunar, has extended his deepest gratitude towards Chief Minister Pawan Chamling for his “noble attention” towards the treatment of his daughter, Sharmila Sunar, who was seriously injured in an accident earlier this year on 24 March.
On that fateful night, four students of Sumin Lingzey Secondary School were hit by a runaway truck at Singtam Shantinagar along NH31A killing one of the students on the spot. Sharmila and other two students survived but sustained grievous injuries.
The family of Kalpana Darnal [the student who was killed in the accident] was handed over an ex-gratia of Rs. 1 lakh by the government while the rest of the injured were taken under the care of the government, providing them with all the medical aid and financial assistance for treatment.
Sharmila suffered four broken ribs and her left lung collapsed. With the ready help from the government, Sharmila’s family was able to give her the best medical treatment at some of the best hospitals.
She was first admitted to Central Referral Hospital then to Siliguri and finally to Vellore from where she was discharged, having completely recuperated.
For this, Sharmila’s father has expressed his gratitude towards the Chief Minister, area MLA, Am Prasad Sharma, SDF party worker, Gita Ruchal, panchayat president Bimal Lamichaney and the principal, Sumin Lingzey, Radha Pradhan for their support in facilitating the recovery of his daughter’s health.
Mr. Sunar, registering his faith in the present government, has expressed that his daughter could live again owing to the State Government’s pro-poor policies.
