MANGAN: The NHPC [Teesta Stage-V hydel project] has sponsored the construction of an additional floor at the Makha Secondary School building in East Sikkim which was inaugurated on Saturday by the Chief Medical Officer, NHPC, Dr TKR Naga.
In his welcome address, the headmaster of the school, Ashok Bhagat, expressed gratitude towards NHPC for providing the much-needed facility.
Meanwhile, Dr. Nagan, in his address, said that apart from power generation, NHPC has also been involved in the field of social service since the time of its inception. He also visited the school campus and interacted with the students during which senior students of the school expressed the need for ceiling fans in the classrooms.
The additional floor of the building has two rooms and was constructed at a cost of Rs. 2,85,000.
The inaugural function was also attended by ward panchayat Renuka Neopaney, Assistant Director [HR Division], NHPC, SK Sethi, Yuva Jagriti Sangh’s Kamal Bhattarai, teachers and students of the school, NHPC officials and the general public.
