GFPF felicitates distributors for helping post record turnover


SINGTAM: The Government Fruit Preservation Factory [GFPF] honoured its distributors for having consistently supported the unit and for helping it increase its turnover in the financial year 2010-11. The factory has recorded a turnover of Rs 2.81 crores in 2010-11, which is around 80% higher than the last year’s turnover of Rs 1.57 crores.
At a special function held here to mark the occasion, the GFPF Managing Director, Karma Zimpa, felicitated GFPF’s nine distributors in Sikkim for supporting the factory through its difficult times.
On the occasion, the MD also handed over a laptop to the most prolific retailer, Swaminath Prasad, for recording the highest sales of Rs 53.04 lakhs in 2010-11. He had done business for GFPF to the tune of Rs 40.97 lakhs in the last financial year.

Similarly, Bidya Rai of Jorethang with Rs 32.59 lakhs in sales, and Jogendra Prasad with 30.43 lakhs were felicitated as the second and third highest sellers respectively.
Addressing the function, the MD credited the substantial improvement in GFPF turnover to the joint efforts of everyone involved.
He also appreciated the support extended by Mr. Swaminath Prasad since the beginning of the factory and through all its difficult times.
Mr Zimpa further urged all distributors to help the factory reach the target set for this financial year and announced that GFPF would continue with sharing its benefits and recognising their support with incentives.
He informed that the factory also plans to set up a Food Processing Training Centre to train and encourage local entrepreneurs along with producing its own brand of packaged drinking water very soon.
Production Manager, GFPF, Narendra Rai, in turn mentioned that the factory was also encouraging farmers towards organic modes of production with the factory trying its best to provide a good market for their organic produce
Plans to offer some share of the factory’s profit to the distributors on the basis of their performance are also in the pipeline, he further informed.
