Every year Nathula trade begins with much enthusiasm and fanfare. We all anticipate that this year we will do some good business. And the business does not even cross a crore. AS the items traded are not of much economic value i feel natula trade is nothing more than a tourism attraction.
ReplyDeleteI doubt that Nathu La did One crore business last year
ReplyDeleteMore than a tourist attraction, it is a diplomatic gambit meant to ease the tensions between China and India. The business, the profits and losses are mere byproducts. Business was never meant to be the core focus. So dont expect too much out of this. The damage on the environment with the whole area strewn with litter of plastics and refuse is immense and hardly a matter of concern for anybody.
ReplyDeleteI am told that last year Nathu La Indo China trade did a brisk 50 crores. This year the target is 250 crores and I doubt how listed items can bring such big turnover ?
