Vice President to visit Sikkim in end-Aug

GANGTOK, 11 Aug: The Vice President of India, Hamid Ansari, is scheduled to arrive here on a two-day visit on 28 Augsut. He is expected to deliver a lecture at Sikkim Manipal University on 29 August, it is informed.
With this visit, Mr. Ansari will become the first Vice President of India to visit Sikkim twice in a term. He was in Sikkim four years ago when he had laid the foundation stone for the railway project at Rangpo.
Home Secretary SC Gupta confirmed that the dates of the Vice President’s visit have been finalized. The itinerary however is still being processed.
The Chief Secretary chaired a meeting with the Heads of Departments as part of preparation measure today.
