Speaker inaugurates showroom for Namchi Designer Candles

NAMCHI, 10 Aug: Sikkim Legislative Assembly Speaker inaugurated the Common Facilities Center/ Showroom of Namchi Designer Candles cum other handmade products at Central Park, Namchi bazaar South Sikkim on Saturday. This showroom has been opened with the support of IDBI bank and NEDFi. Also present were CGM, IDBI Mumbai, RV Iyer and DGM NEDFi, AK Das from Guwahati.  
Addressing the function SLA Speaker, KN Rai congratulated all the members of Namchi Designer Candles and said that this showroom signifies their achievement. He also thanked to the IDBI and NEDFi for their initiative to help the unemployed youth and making them productive through their schemes.
DGM NEDFi, AK Das in his address informed that they look forward to helping more people and thanked IDBI bank for their support and efforts in setting up the showroom at Namchi. He also thanked the Chief Minister for coming to the programme of Namchi Designer Candle earlier at Namchi which, he said, encouraged all the members to work harder.
CGM IDBI Bank, RV Iyer assured further support to Namchi Designer Candle through loans and CSR programme of the bank.  
Branch Manager S/W NEDFi, Avishek Lama informed that two more Common Facilities Center will be opened at Maniram, South Sikkim and Samseybong. The CFC center will be displaying and selling the products of Namchi Designer Candle and homemade chocolates, handmade paper products of Borong, products of 'Maato' of Kitam and handloom and handcrafts from Assam, Manipur and Meghlaya, he informed.
Smita Rai of Namchi Designer Candle informed that all together 120 unemployed youth have attended trainings on designer candle making out of which more than 80 women are working actively to produce candle products; 50 in Namchi, 15 in Maniram and 15 in Samseybong. She further informed that they have participated in many exhibitions in the state and outside like Bhutan and Nepal where they received good response for their products. This, she added, has encouraged them to work harder and make better products.
Ms Rai thanked NEDFi and IDBI bank for their support in making women of the state self-reliant. This CFC/Showroom will help find good market for their products, she added.
