One arrested for alleged assault on public servant

GANGTOK, 16 Sept: A 20 year old resident of 5th Mile, Lumsey was arrested by the Sadar police on 14 September for allegedly assaulting a public servant.
The complaint of Chung Chung Bhutia of Beat-III [Lall Bazaar] states that one person was found smoking at the Lall bazaar Taxi Stand and the duty personnel asked him not to smoke in a public place. This enraged the accused who got agitated and manhandled and assaulted the complainant.
Accordingly, the duty personnel produced the individual at the Police Station. He has been arrested and a case under section 353 [assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty] of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against him at the Sadar Police Station.
