Almuni constructs library for Hee-Yangthang School

GANGTOK, 15 Sept: A library cum office room at Hee-Yangthang Senior Secondary School, West Sikkim was inaugurated by area MLA Chandra Maya Subba on 13 September. The Rs, 7 lakh library building was constructed by the alumni association of the school, a press release informs.
On the day, Principal Pradip Gurung presented a brief report of the school which was followed by the Dhoj Ambali Subba Award ceremony. The award was instituted in 2008 by HRDD Director, MP Subba and his family. This year the award was presented to two meritorious students, Urmila Thatal and Ram Kumar Chettri, the release mentions.
 The school also felicitated Mr Subba for his consistent support to the school and service to the society. In his address, Mr Subba highlighted the aims and objectives of the alumni association and its achievements. He also spoke on the role of teachers, senior citizens and intellectuals in shaping the future of the youth.
Former Secretary and member of the alumni association, T.R Poudyal also addressed the gathering regarding the alumni association, contribution by its members and assured that more works would be carried out in the coming days.
In her address, the chief guest, area MLA, Ms Subba appreciated the work of the association and said that this association has set an example by contributing towards the construction of an entire building for the school. She also assured of all possible support to the association and the school.
R.M.S.A building and assembly yard were also inaugurated on the day.
The programme was attended by members of the alumni association; SP Subba [Retd.Director Industries] , HP Pradhan [Retd.C.C.F.], RK Pradhan [Retd.SE] , BB Pradhan [Secretary} , SB Subba [Director Accounts], DS Kunwar [Joint Commissioner], CS Subba [A.E.O} amongst others.
