Sikkim martial artist bags gold at North Ireland Poomsae championship


GANGTOK, 26 June: Trilok Subba, a 6th Dan black belt of the Sikkim Amateur Taekwondo Association [SATA], has won the gold medal in the Northern Ireland International Taekwondo Poomsae Championship. 
The championship was held on 23 June at the international badminton hall, Lisbon, Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK.
A press release informs that Mr Subba won the gold medal in the second senior team event. He won the bronze medal in the second senior pairs event where his partner was Angie Belley of Scotland. He won the silver medal in the first master individual event where he lost to Master Glean Cowvert of Ireland by a small margin.
Mr Subba reached Belfast on 18 June and he attended the rigorous training at Quen's University till 22 June. According to the release, Mr Subba said, "I am very happy to win the gold medal in this big event for Sikkim as well as for my country. It is all due to the divine grace of Sri Prannath (Sri Rajji). I would like to take this opportunity to thank my well wishers as well."
There were 300 participants from 18 countries in the championship. All the members of SATA congratulate him for his success, the release adds.
