SDF dissolves South district committees

NEW BODIES TO INQUIRE INTO ALL DEVELOPMENTAL PROJECTS AND DEMANDSNAMCHI, 01 Nov: The ruling Sikkim Democratic Front Party, South District unit today dissolved the entire Ward Level, Block level and Constituency level committee till the formation of new committees.
This was decided today in a day long coordination meeting of Sikkim Democratic Front Party held at Community Hall, Namchi South Sikkim. The meeting was attended by SDF party VP and In-charge South District GM Gurung, MLA Namchi Singithang Binod Rai, Chairman Tea Board Gagan Rai, Chairman Labour Board Passang Sherpa, Upa Adakshya (S) Himal Tamang, Senior party workers, CLC, VLC, WLC members and Zilla and Ward Panchayats. During the meeting Laxuman Rai and Dawa Bhutia were nominated as new CLC President and General Secretary respectively for Namchi Singithang Constituency till the formation of new committee. The meeting also decided to form a new committee to conduct the extensive survey of all existing government work, examine progress and delay of work and measure the quality of works that had been carried out by contractors or not.
MLA Namchi Singithang Binod Rai in his address informed that all the government schemes and construction works should be examined by this new committee to check the progress of all departmental works. He further informed that there were many roads under PMGSY that remained to be completed but the works had been stopped; many other construction works of the department which had been tendered had also yet to be started.
The new committees will do their survey to ascertain the reason behind the delay in the  works and submit the report to the District level committee. He further said the recent earthquake had brought to the notice of the government and the party that the more governmental infrastructure had been damaged than private property which raised questions on the quality of the constructions done by the contractors and builders.
Chairman Labour Board, Girish Chandra Rai in his address said that though the SDF party had been working hard for the upliftment of the rural people the villagers were still unhappy and there were many demands still pending. It would be the job of the new committees to collect and examine such demands with the intention of initiating action on them.
The meeting was also addressed by SDF party VP and In-charge South District GM Gurung, and Chairman Tea Board Gagan Rai.
