Chhat Puja on the Teesta at Golitar

GANGTOK, 02 Nov: Chhat Puja was observed at Teesta River in Golitar, Singtam, with a large number of devotees taking a dip in the river and offering special prayers to the Sun God.
The puja which started on 30 Oct with ‘Naha-Kha’ concluded with a special prayer function organized by Sikkim Bihari Jagaran Manch, Singtam Unit.
The women folk who had been on fast for around 36 hours finally broke their fast at 6.30 this evening and prayed for the long life and well being of their husbands.
The event was also celebrated by Nepalese women apart from the Bihari community.
President, puja organizing committee, Pradeep Sharma and the members extended their best wishes to all the people and expressed their gratitude to all who supported this puja and the Singtam Police. [from NANDU DUTRAJ]
