Preetam Brothers lift Dikchu Dussehra Cricket Tournament

MANGAN, 28 Oct:  The final match of the 15th Dussehra Cricket Tournament was held at Dikchu Secondary School ground in East Sikkim on 23 October, informs a press release.
The final match was played between Preetam Brothers, Dikchu and Lingee Sporting Club where the former team set the target of 130 runs in the limited 20 overs game. Lingee Sporting Club could not chase the target and were all out in 80 runs making Preetam Brothers the winners of this year’s tournament, the release informs.
Padam Rai of Preetam Brothers was adjudged ‘Man of the Match’ while Paljor Tamang of the same team was awarded ‘Man of the Series’ title.  The highest scorer of the tournament went to Purna Chettri of Lingee Sporting Club and highest wicket taker was awarded to Pritam Niroula of Preetam Brothers.
The tournament which was organized by Dikchu Cricket Committee (DCC) had started on 02 October with a total of 32 teams participating from across the state. The winners of the tournament were awarded with the cash prize of Rs. 15,000 along with trophy while the runners-up were awarded with cash prize of Rs. 8,000 along with trophy, the release mentions.
The chief guest on the occasion, Level B coach, National Cricket Academy BCCI, Sonam Palden in his address informed that such tournaments are required to explore the hidden talents from rural areas. 
He also informed that a cricket camp will be organized at Dikchu during winter for which he urged everyone to participate and also appreciated the organizing committee for the tournament.
The final match of the tournament was also attended by former cricket Player, Rinzing Namgyal Bhutia and Treasurer, Sangam Club, Mohan Basnett along with other guests.
