Police issues road safety regulations for Nathula travel

GANGTOK, 04 May: The East District Police has issued a notice for all vehicles and taxis carrying tourists to Tsomgo, Baba Mandir and Nathula to ensure the safety of tourists and the public in general.
All vehicles will now have to leave the place of visit by the stipulated time. From Nathula vehicles will have to leave by 1 pm, from Baba Mandir by 1:30 pm and from Tsomgo by 2:30 pm. This is being done to prevent the vehicles from getting stranded due to inclement weather, a notice issued by East District Police explains.
As per the notice, vehicles will also have to be equipped with snow tyre chains, first aid medicines for altitude sickness, a small shovel, jute carry bags and other such items that may be of help in case of any problems en route.
Action will be taken in case of any violation of these regulations, it is further stated.
