SSP demands 50% reduction in power tariff for Sikkim

The Sikkim Sangram Parishad has demanded immediate reduction of power tariff by 50% by the ruling government. In a press release the party states that during the tenure of its president, Bhandari, two points free electricity was supplied to those below poverty line with the rest of the population charged a minimum rate. The SSP press release lambasts the state government for ignoring the interest of the public inspite the fact that it has been receiving huge funds from the centre. when the Aam Admi party could reduce power tariff in Delhi which is a state which purchases electricity why can the same not be replicated here in Sikkim which produces electricity, questions SSP. In fact the SSP alleges that the people here are paying among the highest electricity rates.
